That was scary. My laptop, which is only a few months old, died on me today. It was like losing oxygen. Not only that, it's payday and the software to do the boys wages is on it. I didn't fancy restoring a backup and redoing the last weeks work, so I went to the our local computer God. I walked in, handed him my baby and sat down to watch.
He plugged it in.
IT God - "It doesn't work"
Me - "Ah, so that's the problem"
IT God - "What's wrong with it?
Me, staring blankly - "What?"
IT God - "There's something wrong with it"
Me - "Riiight... Do you think maybe you could work out what?"
IT God - "But it doesn't start"
Me - "That's why I'm here"
IT God unscrews panels, fiddles around, pulls out little electronic bits, drops them. Fiddles around some more, reinserts bits, flips laptop over, it starts!
Me - "What was wrong"
IT God - "I don't know"
Me - "How did you fix it"
IT God - "I think it was the RAM. Did you have it upgraded?"
Me - "Yes"
IT God - "Take it back to them and tell them there's a problem"
ME - "You upgraded it"
IT God - "Seems Ok now. Shouldn't happen again"
Me - "It shouldn't have happened in the first place. By the way, did you manage to get my iPaq fixed?"
IT God - "You have an iPaq?"
